What Is Dental Bonding and Contouring?
An accident can happen at any time. You could take a bad fall and chip your tooth. Sometimes, a tooth can get discolored from a medication or illness. Dr. Rupam Khanna offers bonding and contouring to fix these minor cosmetic flaws at her dental office in San Ramon, CA. An effective and quick cosmetic treatment, dental bonding and contouring uses composite resin (the same material used for tooth-colored fillings) to mask discoloration, reduce gaps in your teeth, make a tooth longer, or even improve a tooth's shape. For a great way to enhance your smile, schedule an appointment at San Ramon Family Dental to get more information about dental bonding and contouring.
What Should I Expect with Dental Bonding and Contouring?
Dental bonding and contouring is usually completed in a single appointment at our San Ramon, CA office. You don't need anesthesia, but options for sedation may be reviewed with Dr. Khanna at your appointment for concerns, like anxiety or a strong gag reflex. Once you are comfortable, Dr. Khanna will begin applying the bonding material to the desired teeth, aided by one of her team members. The composite resin will be set before more layers are added. After the layers of composite resin are set, Dr. Khanna will contour and smooth both the resin and your natural enamel for an even finish.
What to Expect After Dental Bonding and Contouring
After bonding and contouring, it's important to not consume staining food and beverages (such as tobacco, coffee, and tea) for 48 hours. The bonding material can chip and stain, so don’t bite down on hard objects such as ice, hard candy, pens, and fingernails, and clean your teeth right after eating. Bonded and contoured teeth should be cared for like natural teeth with regular brushing, flossing, and mouthwash. Bi-annual cleanings at San Ramon Family Dental can help to remove stains from the bonding material. With proper care, bonding and contouring may last as long as ten years. At your dental examination, Dr. Khanna will help you decide if the bonding and contouring procedure should be re-done to maintain your appearance.

San Ramon Family Dental Reviews
I had my wisdom teeth come in and we decided to go to Rupam Khanna office ASAP and she told me that they have a procedure at their office which was so convenient instead of getting recommended to a bunch of different doctors which was super nice. So day before the surgery I drank a whole lot of pineapple juice (90 percent sure it did not) i hate pineapple juice but still did it incase. But I had Dr. Phan as my surgeon and he was so helpful and nice. He definitely calmed my nerves and talked to me throughout the whole procedure always talking to me letting me know what’s going to happen what i should I should expect. The surgery was so easy no pain at all put a little afterwards but with the pain meds i basically felt nothing. But I had Dr.phan’s phone number which he gives to his patients for my millions questions and he clarified everything and explained everything so well that it made me feel like an expert in wisdom teeth removal. But I 1000% recommend Dr. Phan and Rupam Khanna they made my life easy and did a great job.
